Networks / NILE (Network on Intercultural Learning in Europe)

www.intercultural-learning.net

The adult education equivalent of ACODDEN, NILE promotes lifelong intercultural learning in national policies and programmes.

Established in 2002 with European Commission funding for an initial three-year phase, the network subsequently received continued Commission support for a second phase running until September 2008. This has enabled a greater number of adult education organisations and networks to join, bringing the total number of countries involved to 20.

Through its activities, NILE seeks to contribute to building synergies and developing strong transnational cooperation between key actors in adult education focussing on intercultural learning, anti-prejudice and anti-racism training and human rights education. The network also plans to embrace more partners from the new accession countries and more partners from migrant and community organisations, working on both national and local levels.

CEJI is now an active partner in NILE and participates in the working group dedicated to the transnational transfer of good practice.
